I'd like to try but not sure I'd like to commit to a full membership? Cost for temporary memberships are as follows:-

What sort of kit will I need? As a new member Lord Grey's regiment can loan you basic kit to get you on the battlefield to start with. The regiment does have a limited supply of footwear but to avoid disappointment we would suggest you bring your own. A basic type of unbranded desert boot made to look like the style of the period can be worn. Sorry no work boots. Most major musters have traders where you can purchase your own kit or if you have the skills you can always make your own.
Do I need to know about the history English Civil War? Not at all, the majority of members didn't now anything about it either when they first joined but you will be surprised at how much you will pick up over time. Still knowledge of the period is not essential and will not exclude you from anything we do. There are no tests and nobody will put you on the spot, you are free to delve as deeply into the history of the 17th century as much or as little as you like.
How old do I have be to take part in a battle? The minimum age for a combatant is 16, however for those younger there is the "Apprentices" where children aged 12 - 15 years old can learn the drill of the combat arms to prepare them for when they are old enough to take the field.
Does anybody get hurt? Sealed knot battles follow a general script but are not rehearsed or choreographed. The overall battle is made up of individual fights between units. These fights are akin to full contact sports, especially for the pike but don't worry as full training will be given in your chosen arm. Accidents do happen but thankfully they are few and far between and the Sealed Knot has it's own battlefield medics on the field at all times just in case.
What if I try one role and don't like it? No worries! You are not pinned down to the first role you try, if you don't like it then your free to try any of the other roles. Some people do multiple roles and can fill in where needed or others enjoy a role so much they dedicate themselves to that particular arm.
